Maddie Moon
Born in Venezuela and now based in Spain, Maddie Moon is a faith-based, self-produced singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist inspired by the retro aesthetics of the 80s/70s. Her dreamy sound introduces the listener to ethereal instrumentation and faith-based Christian lyrics, telling stories about her journey in both faith and life. Inspired by genres such as Indie Pop, Bedroom Pop, and Dream Pop, Maddie evokes an ethereal atmosphere that connects each individual to their most profound feelings and emotions. Her music has been featured on BBC Introducing on Merseyside, where she has also been interviewed, as well as on radio stations around the globe and multiple magazines such as Indie Rocks MX.
Maddie’s musical journey began in Venezuela, where she picked up the guitar at age 5, inspired by bands like Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses. Challenges at home led her to step away from music for a while, but at 15, she enrolled in a music school, rediscovering her passion. At 17, inspired by Melanie Martinez, Maddie became a storyteller, exploring both dark and light aspects of life in her songs. She gained recognition with her cover of "Play Date" on Spotify, which marked a turning point in her career. With her husband's support, Maddie shifted from covers to creating original music, producing her first EP, a place for emotional humans, which delves into topics like depression, love, friendship, and sensitivity, offering a message of hope.
Later on, Maddie released her first album titled Melancholy, where she developed a new and fresh sound, with the change between her first EP and this new conceptual, visual, and musical piece being remarkable. This album is a heartfelt homage to a bygone era, a lyrical love letter to the past that evokes a sense of melancholic happiness. Each note and melody transports her to a time that feels like home. The music explores themes of solitude, the struggle to trust others and navigating social challenges. Inspired by artists as new as Dayglow and The Marias, as well as classics like The Cure, Maddie uses sweet, floaty sounds that transport the listener to a new dimension of emotions, but always with a happy ending.
After overcoming personal struggles with anxiety and depression, Maddie experienced a supernatural encounter with Jesus, prompting her to dedicate both her life and career to Him. This profound transformation led her to move from creating music for self-expression to crafting songs that touch the hearts of those in darkness, speaking of the greater hope found in Jesus, with a unique style of worshiping the Lord.
